Power generating system for bicycle

Power generating system for bicycle

Patent WO 2012043975 A1. This patent is basically for a moped, that uses the mechanical energy created from pedaling to create electric energy to power the bike when desired.

Pedal powered potter's wheel

Pedal powered potter's wheel

Patent: US 4061460 A While a potters wheel is already pedal powered, they are bulky and heavy, making them hard to transport, and electrical ones are inefficient. This lightweight design utilizes a bike wheel to spin the platform on top, allowing the potter to shape the clay.

Bicycle powered mower

Bicycle powered mower

Patent: US 5222348 A This patent is for a bicycle powered lawnmower, and is a bit like a combination of a bike and a retro push mower. Pedaling on this bike directly converts the energy created into pushing the lawnmower, allowing one to simply pedaling around their yard to cut grass.

Water Pump System

Water Pump System

Patent: US 5772405 A This patent is for a bike that aids in the pumping of water into a household, converting energy from the user directly to mechanical energy.

Pedal Powered Prime Mover

Pedal Powered Prime Mover

This device is as simple as it gets, a generator hooked up to the flywheel that generates power. Patented in 2011, by David Butcher Pedal Powered Prime Mover. This PPG generates enough energy to power many small appliances, such as blenders, small vacuum cleaners, laptops, cellphones, toaster ovens, small TVs, soldering iron.

Electrical auxiliary powered bicycle

Electrical auxiliary powered bicycle

Patent: US 3894599 A bicycle powered by electrical solenoids, one of which is linked by cable to each foot pedal of the conventional chain drive. Manually operated switches mounted on the bicycle handles control the operation of the solenoids. The solenoids are powered by a battery which may be charged by an alternator-generator when the bicycle is coasting or going down hill. The bicycle may be propelled by normal foot action on the pedals with the solenoids supplying additional power.

Bicycle mobile telephone charger

Bicycle mobile telephone charger

Patent: US 8067848 B1 A generator that takes energy from the mechanical motion of pedaling and turns it into electrical energy is mounted atop a bicycle so that the user may charge devices while riding a bike.

The Siva Cycle Atom

The Siva Cycle Atom

A very compact generator that converts energy from pedaling your bike into a smooth current, that you can plug any usb device into to charge it. The Atom clips to the back wheel, and is lightweight, weather resistant, cheap, and efficient. Began as a kickstarter project, and received funding well beyond its goal, yet the product isn’t actually on the market yet.

The Fender Blender

The Fender Blender

This pedal-powered machine uses purely mechanical energy to blend smoothies. The chain and sprocket allow for gear ratios. The mechanical-only design means it’s high efficiency. Large flywheel allows for consistent output with the inertia of the wheel. Adjustable seat and handlebars for comfort/max output position. This design is $1700.
